Text Box: Higher National Diploma in International Hotel Management or Hospitality Management

Edexcel awards the Higher National Diploma. The course takes 25 months to complete. Of these, 12 months are a work placement in a hotel (with pay about GBP 1000 per month). 

During the first year students study 8 different subjects areas and they are required to complete coursework assignments that are a combination of theory and research. This often involves meeting with,  and working with hotel managers. 

London Hotel School offers two HND course: a unique programme of study called the HND in International Hotel Management; and also the standard UK qualification called the HND in Hospitality Management.

The courses are designed to develop the students’ interpersonal skills, as well as their understanding of the theory of hotel management. Students often have to interview hotel managers and make presentations as part of their assignments; this helps them develop the communication and “people” skills that essential for anyone wanting a successful career in hotel management.

Students on this course need to be well organized and work to coursework submission deadlines and they are recommended to have wireless laptop computer. LHS has an internet based system enabling students to work online in the production and submission of their coursework.

The first year of the HND consists of the following subjects modules:

Rooms Division Management
Sales and Merchandising and Marketing Management.
Technology Management
People Management
Quality Management
Managerial Accounting 

Plus the courses below to complete either HND option:

Entry requirement:
Complete education to the age of 18+;
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
