Text Box: Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where is London Hotel School?
London Hotel School is located in Kensington Olympia which is close to the city centre and all the major hotels.

Q. Which course should I take?
Those who have an English level of IELTS 4.5 or higher may choose to study AHLA. Students who have IELTS 5.5 or higher, and also want to gain paid work experience should select the HND.

Can I study English only at LHS?
Sorry, we do not offer any English program, so please make sure you have good level of English to meet our professional courses.

If I start with AHLA, then up grade to HND, and also complete my BA, do I get one qualification at the end of the course?
A.	AHLA Diploma will be awarded when you finish your AHLA
course, and Higher National Diploma will be awarded when you
complete your HND course, of course you will get another BA
(Hons) degree qualification when you successfully complete your
degree program. So there will be 3 major internationally recognized
qualifications awarded if you do this way. Most of the students with
good English could join HND directly.

Q.	What is the different between a normal Degree and Honors Degree?
In England, Honors Degree is normally a 3 year program, and it is
recognized as a higher qualification than a normal degree as you
might need to spend 4 years to get Honors Degree in other
	countries.

Q. Do I have to pay for text books?
Text books are included in your course fees.

Q. Can I have work placement after AHLA?
Work placement is only available for students after HND course work. In order for AHLA students to experience the work placement in the UK, you have to upgrade your AHLA qualification to HND which normally takes about 6 months.

Q. Can I do part time during study?
As a possessor of a student visa you are legally permitted to work for 20 hours per week during your study. LHS has arrangements with a number of top organisation s who want our students for part time work, and students get valuable work experience when they work part time which can be useful to them in getting an work placement later in their career.

Q.	Is there any school uniform?
Within the school itself we have no uniform and students may dress casually. But when we visit hotels it is important the students be dressed in business clothes so make sure you bring such clothes with you.

Q. Should I contact an agent to assist for my application?
An experienced agent who knows how to assist you for application and advise you for visa application is important. So it is always recommended to contact our representative to seek for appropriate assistance.

Q.	Do I need a visa to study in the UK?
For students from Asia, yes you need a visa to study in the UK if your course is more than 6 months.

Q. Is there any long holiday for my course?
LHS has only 2 weeks holiday in August, and 2 weeks Christmas holiday in December.

Q.	Where are the students from?
We have students from all over the world including those from Asia, Europe, North and South America, Africa etc.. So please use English only to communicate as it is the international language here in London.

Q.	Is there any airport pick up service?
Airport pick up service is available. If you need the school to arrange someone to meet you upon arrival and bring you to the hostel, please inform your agent once your visa is granted. Airport pick up service is GBP 50 per person.

Where should I stay?
LHS has 3 options: Family stay, Student hostel, and Flat sharing. Family stay could cost about GBP 140 per week, Student hostel is about GBP 100 for single room, and 85 Pounds per week for twin sharing. Flat sharing is about 70 Pounds per week. Please inform your agent once your visa is granted regarding what type of room you want to stay in.

How much is the living cost in London?
Average GBP 600 per month which include your accommodation and food.

Q. How is the weather in London?
Weather in London could be very different for most of the students from Asia especially those from the tropical countries. Normally winter could be cold for Asian students so please prepare some winter clothing to keep yourselves warm.

Q. Do I need to have my own computer?
If you are planning to study the HND or Degree course we strongly recommend you to bring your own wireless equipped laptop so you can work most effectively on our course.
