Credit transfer of Stamford College’s AHLA students to the London Hotel School’s
BTEC Higher National Diploma in
International Hotel Management

London Hotel School recognises the right of Stamford College students to upgrade their American Hotel and Lodging Association to a UK BTEC Higher National Diploma in International Hotel Management.

Below are the subjects studied at Stamford College and being accepted by London Hotel School for BTEC Higher National Diploma for the upgrade programme:

Subjects 1:
Food and Beverage Management (subject code: 241.4)
Managing Front Office Operations (333.7)
Supervision in the Hospitality Industry (250T)
Housekeeping Management (338SC)
Marketing in the Hospitality Industry (270.4)
Convention management & services (478.7)

Note: The above courses are taught at both London Hotel School (‘LHS’) and Stamford College but students of Stamford College will have to attend LHS classes and write the associated assignments for the BTEC HND in the additional subjects below.

Subjects 2:
Human Resources Management
Technology Management
Sales and Merchandising
Managerial Accounting
Service Management
International Hotel Management

Over the time period of one year students would study the twelve units and so completing the first year of the two year HND programme. London Hotel School would provide textbooks for these new subjects inclusive in the cost of the course but would expect students to bring their course-books for the subjects already studied in Malaysia (subjects 1) with them to London

The duration of the course would depend on the student’s abilities as usually a AHLA to HND upgrade takes 6 months but as the Stamford students would have to take some completely new subjects it may take longer to a maximum of one year. On completion of the required first year units the students would then start the second year work placement of 52 weeks paid work in a hotel with two more assignments to complete before being awarded the HND. Students can then transfer for one year further onto the bachelors degree programme or the hotel can apply for a 5 year work permit if he/she wants to continue working in the UK.

Students may join the course at the start of any monthly unit as described on our schedule.

Course Fee:
Special transfer programme (HND) £3000 +
Registration fee of £175 with Edexcel, the HND awarding
body.
Total of 1st year fee £3175.

Fee is refundable if the student does not get a visa.
Work Placement Year £1000.
